My Perfect Messy Goddess Braid

Come the warm weather, i absolutely love braids and twists to pull all of the (weaved in) hair from my back and shoulders. simply put, the new york/new jersey heat plus humidity arithmetic equals too darn hott!!! anywho...my Perfect Messy Goddess Braid is inspired by one of my guilty pleasures: Red Rihanna. Really...she's a friend in my head and i think we'd get along rather well. eclectic style, sassy attitude, and witting charm aside...neither one of us can sing that well, either. lol...she just does it better than me.

watch the vid to see how i accomplished my spin on her look. and for the first time...i was able to complete a vid when i wanted to, without being cut off. lol.

here is the finished look. as the day went on the braid got messier. and i loved it even more! well...i do admit to pulling more curls and tendrils of hair out of the braid. lol. in any event, i like the soft and rugged twist on the classic and innocent braid.

i hope that you like because i looooovvveee.... :)
blogger is trippin right now...so i'll follow up this post with more pics of some beautiful goddess braids that will hopefully inspire you ♥

Curls, Curls and more Curls!

I swear that i'm gonna get this making videos for youtube thing right, darnit! What i tried to do was record a demo of how make big spiral curls. Well...i made the vid. only problem is that the vid is too long! whereas, my usual problem is that the vid stops recording due to lack of memory. adios mio! in any event, the curl tutorial had to be scrapped. maybe i'll figure out how to edit it.

This past sunday i washed and flat ironed my Bobbi Boss IndiRemi French Wave. The following clip is very short...so watch!

After thoroughly drying, i flat ironed the hair. the hair was relatively easy to straighten and took me about 35 minutes. Then i went on to curl the hair...

The end result:

Pixie Cut - Full Head Weave

Weaves are my specialty.

Having said that, the following montage is of my latest work, with one of my favorite people ♥. As you will see, L has a full head of dense, super strong hair. She had been wearing a relaxer since the 90's and in October of 2010 she decided to break her chemical chains and go natural. But L, like so many (myself included), was and is unwilling to commit to the big chop. With all of that hair, i don't blame her...

So, for the past few months L and i have been weaving her hair up...and with great results. With every take down she gets some kind of intense conditioner (alternating between protein and moisture treatments) and a sweet scalp massage. She is steady growing her hair and most importantly, with this protective style, she's not manipulating her own hair on a daily basis. yay to that!!!

The hair used can be purchased at any beauty supply store and i highly recommend it! Outre Velvet Remi (27 piece, w/2, 4 and 6") comes in a nicely decorated, square, purple and silver box, and costs only $22. Trust and believe that L and i are hair snobs. But this BSS hair right here? wears for 6 weeks with no problem. I'm talking, our last install, L worked out religiously but the hair did not bunch, get clumpy/sticky, or show any adverse affects. As soon we washed it, it looked brand new again.

Anywho...she loves it!

Must Watch: ELECTRIC BARBARELLAS

My people know that i'm a hardcore reality tv junkie. We can go as far back to the first season of The Real World or talk about how Flavor of Love has yet to be outdone in debaucherous bufoonery. I take that back...Jersey Shore was MTV's response to FOL. lol. anyway, i digress...

A few months ago one of my aunt's mentioned that my favorite, baby cousin was filming a reality show. i wasn't surprised because she had been modeling and singing for years but i was still excited. lil baby cousin chasing her dreams, out there really doing it? awesome. i mean, this is my fave baby cousin who had the nerve to cuss me out (at 3.5 years old) if we didn't go to dairy queen once i picked her up from pre-school. i so wanna call her by her pet name because it's a rare event that i call her what her mama named her. but this ain't about me. ladies and gents, please support my cousin Raven and her excursion with the Electric Barbarellas. The first episode airs tonight, May 4th at 11 pm...watch!!!

Did you see my baby? isn't she purty? i'm gushing like a proud parent over here (and i am human-childless). I can't wait...good luck, Raven! love you lots!!!
